'The persistent one'

Oil on canvas
51 x 101 cm

This one is inspired by a visit to Taiwan, where I participated in ‘Art Revolution Tapei’. During this fair we had some time to visit the city and one of our trips was a walk upon Elephant mountain. I experienced the way to the top as very atmospheric because of all the rarefied chants coming from the temples and meeting points on the mountain. The view on top was absolutely wonderful and the famous ‘one O one building’ in the middle was more than impressive.

It was not difficult to translate that feeling into a painting, matching the One series. After reading more about the 101 building (from 2004 to 2010 world’s tallest building) I discovered that the architect was inspired by the specific growth of a bamboo.
